To my Fellow community members,

  For those of you who I have not had the opportunity to meet, my name is AJ Stevens. Prior to taking this position, I taught 10 years in many different areas including Health and Careers. I began my teaching journey at Sherwood as the Elementary Physical Educator. I have coached many sports at different levels. I obtained both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from the University of Central Missouri, where I was also a collegiate athlete in Cross Country and Track. I have 3 children, Beau who will be 5 this August, Luke who will be 4 this August, and Kasey who will be 1 this September. I am very excited to have 2 of my children attending school this fall. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Meghan, for 7 years. We truly enjoy the Sherwood Community and all the great people that live in it

     This will be my second year as Sherwood Middle School Principal, and am very excited to continue leading our educators toward the best education for our students and community. Our teachers and office staff are working hard to ensure that Sherwood Middle School students have access to top quality education in a safe and supportive environment.  

       I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the Sherwood community, specifically students in grades 6 through 8. Sherwood Middle School staff recognizes the unique needs of students in this grade span, and we strive to provide a challenging and inspiring educational experience that will serve our students well as they transition to high school and prepare for their future careers.

       As we prepare for the school year upon us, the staff and I are very excited to welcome our new 6th graders to our building and excited to continue our great tradition with our 7th and 8th graders. I encourage parents and their children to get involved in activities as often as possible. If you have any questions any time, please reach out; I would love to chat with you.
